Now, let’s use Formula #1 in a situation in which both groups have a sample size greater than 30.

Suppose that a university that offered a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) wanted to obtain feedback from students at the end of a course in Managing Human Resources from the previous semester to determine if there was a gender difference in the students’ opinions of the course. Item #12 of the Course Evaluation Form asked the graduate students for their overall rating of the quality of the course using a 100-point scale. This rating item is given in Fig. 5.7.
